The Government of Amapá carries out a sports program with more than 20 modalities in honor of Macapá’s 266th anniversary. The event begins on Thursday, the 1st, with a basketball tournament, which brings together 11 teams of athletes from Amapá and Pará, in the female, male and wheelchair-accessible categories. The games will open at the Avertino Ramos gym, starting at 8am.

The initiative, coordinated by the State Department of Sports and Leisure (Sedel), seeks to serve all audiences, encouraging the practice of basketball, which is very popular in the city’s squares. Among the Amapá clubs, the participation of the traditional Ypiranga, ABAP and São José stands out. The clubs JP8 and Paysandu, from Belém (PA), will be present as guests.

The finals will be played on Sunday, 4th, between the classified teams. The program also foresees the holding of other sports in the other teaching centers, which are also part of the ‘Circuito Sedel Cidade de Macapá’, in celebration of the municipality’s 266th anniversary.
