Government leader says that exchange in Tourism would be more relevant than in Health – 06/12/2023 – Politics

The leader of the government in the Senate, Jaques Wagner (PT-BA), said this Monday (12) that a possible departure of minister Daniela Carneiro from the Ministry of Tourism is “more pertinent” because it is a portfolio that is under indication from União Brasil.

However, he said he was considering changing the Ministry of Health, currently under the command of Nísia Trindade, “in the field of desire of those who are asking [a saída]”.

The two changes to the Esplanada are under discussion, due to pressure from parties in Congress, where the government still faces difficulties in forming a faithful base. União Brasil has demanded Daniela’s position, while the PP of the mayor, Arthur Lira (AL), covets Saúde.

“There is the issue of Tourism, due to the change of party [de Daniela]. This one is more pertinent. Health, honestly, I think for now it’s in the field of desire. Who is asking,” the leader told reporters at the Planalto Palace.

“A [mudança] in Tourism there is a logic, which is to say that people are there representing the party. I am not advocating her leaving, but as long as the fact that she asked to leave the party is confirmed, it is obvious that the party will say that it was our representation and it is no longer.”

The PT senator said he has not yet spoken with President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) about possible changes in ministries and that he sees a lot of speculation on the subject.

The statement was given before the signing ceremony of the National Literacy Commitment decree, a policy aimed at ensuring that all children are fully literate by the end of the 2nd year of elementary school.

Daniela Carneiro announced her request to leave União Brasil in April, along with her husband and mayor of Belford Roxo, in Rio de Janeiro, Wagner Carneiro. Waguinho is an ally of Lula and was an important player during the electoral campaign in Rio de Janeiro.

The mayor migrated to the Republicans, but the party indicated that it does not intend to join the first echelon of Lula’s government. The acronym has among its main names today the governor of São Paulo, Tarcísio de Freitas, presidential candidate in the field of eventual successors of Jair Bolsonaro (PL) on the right.

Daniela is one of the three names nominated by União Brasil for the Esplanada de Lula. The delivery of the portfolios for Tourism, Communications, in addition to Integration and Regional Development, however, was not enough to fully attract the party, which declares itself independent, to the PT’s base.

Members of União Brasil, especially those from the Chamber, began to defend Celso Sabino’s move to Daniela’s portfolio. The Federal Deputy from Pará has the support of the caption’s dome.
