Government leader estimates 48 to 52 votes in favor of Flávio Dino in the Senate

The leader of the Government in Congress, Randolfe Rodrigues (Rede-AP), believes that the Minister of Justice, Flávio Dino, will receive 48 to 52 favorable votes from senators in the vote for the position of minister of the Supreme Court (STF). Dino will be questioned by the Constitution and Justice Commission (CCJ) from 10 am this Wednesday (13).
To take on the position, the nominee must be approved by the CCJ and receive the support of at least 41 senators in a vote in the House plenary. On November 27, President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) appointed Dino to the STF and the deputy electoral attorney general, Paulo Gustavo Gonet Branco, to occupy the position of attorney general of the Republic.
Randolfe estimates that Gonet’s approval will have a better score than Dino’s. “Flávio Dino’s name will be approved and that of Doctor Gonet too. With a vote, I dare say, more relaxed [para Gonet]. But senator and minister Dino, who I hope will be the future minister of the STF, with a vote between 48 and 52 votes”, said Randolfe this Tuesday (12).
Lula’s two nominees will be questioned simultaneously by senators. The expectation is that the joint hearing will alleviate criticism from opposition senators against the Minister of Justice.
