Wilson Lima declared that Rapidão Rodoanel Metropolitano de Manaus is a victory for the people

Manaus (AM) – The governor of Amazonas, Wilson Lima (União Brasil), delivered on Monday night (23), the first section of the Rapidão Rodoanel Metropolitano de Manaus, the largest integrated urban mobility project in the history of the Amazonian capital.

The event was attended by municipal and state representatives, such as the councilor and president of the Manaus City Council (CMM), Caio André (Podemos). In his speech, the parliamentarian highlighted the improvements that the work will bring to the city.

“Manaus needed a mobility project like this. The Manaus City Council could not fail to be present at this event, on the eve of Manaus’ anniversary. This major work will help with the flow of production, especially for heavy vehicles”,

highlighted the councilor.

Wilson Lima recalled the difficulties faced throughout his administration, and stated that Rapidão is a victory for the people of Amazonas.

“We only achieve things through work. It is not easy to deliver a work like this. It is a 37-kilometer project. Today we delivered the first stage, this will be important so that people spend less time in traffic. These are the things that motivate us every day,”

highlighted Lima.

Rapidão appears as an alternative to optimize traffic time in the capital, both for passenger cars and heavy vehicles arriving on the state’s roads.

“This entire project of 37 kilometers of track will cost around R$500 million, this will be important, because it will take the trucks of General Rodrigo Otávio, V8, from the Center of Manaus, out of circulation. The trucks going to AM-010, BR-174 and the airport will come directly from Rapidão. This makes traffic safer.”

Wilson pointed out.

Safety was one of the points highlighted by Lima, as the road will serve as one of the main routes for drivers in the city.

“All safety criteria were taken into consideration. We have only one highway in the State of Amazonas and only this avenue that has three lanes. It is all signposted, horizontal and vertical signs, with a speed limit of up to 60 km/h, throughout it, it is all lit up. All traffic safety conditions have been taken so that heavy and passenger vehicles can travel safely”,

concluded the governor.

Divided into three stages, the project totals 37.8 kilometers of fast and modern roads connecting the east, north and west zones of the capital. In two other phases, the work starts from Avenida dos Oitis, located in the Industrial District II, passing through the Brasileirinho and Chico Mendes branches, in the East Zone and along Margarita and José Henriques avenues, in the North Zone.

According to the government, the benefits of Rapidão Rodoanel include greater traffic flow; shortening distances between city areas; diversion of the circulation of heavy vehicles, leaving the Manaus Industrial Complex (PIM) to Eduardo Gomes International Airport; reduction in fuel consumption and transport time, among others.
