Federal Government recognizes emergency situation in Tartarugalzinho, Amapá – News of Brazil

The Ministry of Integration and Regional Development (MIDR), through the National Civil Defense, recognized, in an extra edition of the Official Gazette of the Union, the emergency situation in the city of Tartarugalzinho, in Amapá, which is facing severe drought.
With federal recognition, the municipality is able to request resources from the MIDR for humanitarian assistance actions, such as purchasing food, drinking water and fuel for vehicles that transport supplies. The transfer will be released to the city as soon as the work plans are presented by the city hall and evaluated by the National Civil Defense technical team.
This Monday (23), in Brasília, the mayor Bruno Mineiro met with ministers Waldez Góes (MIDR),MarinaSilva (Environment) and Paulo Teixeira (Agrarian Development).
“President Lula’s guidance is to provide all the necessary support to municipalities affected by disasters, whether due to excessive rainfall, as in Rio Grande do Sul and Santa Catarina, or due to lack of it, as is currently occurring in the North of the country”highlights the minister Waldez Góes. “It is important to highlight that there will be no shortage of resources from the Federal Government to serve the population that has been suffering from the drought in both Amapá and Amazonas, Pará and other states in the region”complete.
How to request resources
Requests for resources by municipalities in emergency situations must be made through the Integrated Disaster Information System (S2iD). In addition to aid and assistance to victims, it also transfers resources to restore essential services and rebuild infrastructure or housing destroyed or damaged by disasters.
Based on the information sent in the work plans, the National Civil Defense technical team evaluates the goals and values requested. With approval, an ordinance is published in the DOU with the amount to be released.
National Civil Defense Capabilities
National Civil Defense offers a series of distance learning courses to enable and qualify municipal and state agents to use S2iD. The training focuses on civil protection and defense agents in the three spheres of government.
Oiapoque’s demands
Another of the minister’s agenda was to address demands from the municipality of Oiapoque, in Amapá. Minister Waldez Góes received councilors Yuri Araújo, Marcelo Guimarães and Lília Oliveira. Parliamentarians thanked the opportunity for dialogue with the Federal Government and highlighted the importance of strengthening family farming, through structuring the flow of the production chain, especially for indigenous communities. Furthermore, they made themselves available to contribute to the construction of the State Plan for the Development and Integration of the Border Strip (PDIFF).
“We have logistical difficulties in distributing products, which harms the local economy. Regarding the PDIFF, we believe that we have a lot to contribute to the relationship between Amapá and French Guiana”, observed Yuri Araújo.
Waldez Góes assured that MIDR will spare no effort to ensure that resources are provided for the region’s development. “The commitment to the country’s development remains firm. It is President Lula’s determination that the ministries be close to the people, so have this ministry as a space for the whole of society. Our mission is to bring public policies to those who need them most”he stated.
