The Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) government created a working group to develop a National Human Rights and Business Policy.
With a 180-day deadline, the group will be coordinated by the Ministry of Human Rights and will have representatives from 16 departments.
The objective is to make companies also internalize their concern for human rights, encouraging instruments such as compliance.
One of the guidelines of the future Policy, according to the decree that created the working group, is “improving the effectiveness of current sectoral programs and public policies related to the defense and promotion of human rights in the business sphere”.
