Centrão’s pressure seems to be having an effect on Lula’s government. So much so that the president of the PT, federal deputy Gleisi Hoffmann (PT-PR), said that the party does not want to lose space in the government, but that the party is willing to give in if this is necessary and important to guarantee governance.
In an interview with the newspaper O Globo, the parliamentarian declared that “The PT has already made a great effort in the composition of ministries. There were people who said that the PT was left with many portfolios, but that is not true. The PT is big, it is the party of the President of the Republic and it has the responsibility of sustaining the alliance that elected him. But the PT understands what it means to have a political composition”.
President Lula (PT) has also spoken more about the subject, despite not revealing many details yet. Even so, he admits he has been negotiating for support.
This whole discussion is due to the ministerial mini-reform that has been put together by the Planalto Palace in search of more support from Congress. This week, federal deputy Zé Guimarães (PT-CE), leader of the government in the Chamber, explained that, despite so many ongoing negotiations, the final decision will be President Lula’s.
