Government awaits extra revenue to define server readjustment

The federal government tried to negotiate the salary adjustment for federal employees at a meeting of the National Permanent Negotiation Table that took place this Wednesday (28), in Brasília. However, there was no agreement to meet the new adjustment proposal, between 7% and 10%, presented by the civil servants to be applied in 2024.

According to Secretary of Labor Relations at the Ministry of Management and Innovation in Public Services (MGI), José Feijó, the government is waiting for “extra fundraising” to be able to define the salary adjustment later this year, but the evaluation should only take place in April. The offer of 9% recovery, between 2025 and 2026, with no increase in 2024, remains maintained by the government.

The category’s counterproposal was sent to the Ministry of Management and Innovation at the beginning of February. In it, the Permanent National Forum of Typical State Careers (Fonacate), the Forum of National Entities of Federal Public Servants (Fonasefe) and trade unions call for a 10.34% adjustment in 2024, 2025 and 2026 for federal public servants who have signed, in 2015, agreements in 2016 and 2017.

And for employees who signed agreements for four years (2019 to 2019), the category wants an adjustment of 22.71% divided into three equal installments of 7.06%, in 2024, 2025 and 2026.

Upon receiving the counter-proposal from the unions, the Minister of Management and Innovation, Esther Dweck, stated that the readjustment of public employee salaries in 2024 will only happen if there is “excess” government revenue.

Later this year, the government intends to readjust at least some benefits such as food assistance, which could increase from R$658 to R$1,000. In addition, the values ​​of health assistance and daycare assistance may increase to R$215 and R$484.90, respectively.
