Vice-governor Tadeu de Souza debates project that could train labor and attract new CT&I industries to Amazonas

Manaus (AM) – Boost the opening of new businesses and markets in Amazonas based on the academy-company-public power tripod. This is the main objective of creating the Technological Park of the State University of Amazonas (UEA), designed to be built in the Escola Superior de Tecnologia (EST/UEA) complex, located in the Parque Dez de Novembro neighborhood, central-south area of Manaus.

The vice-governor of the State, Tadeu de Souza, advanced this week in negotiations surrounding the viability of the project during a meeting, in his office, with the director of EST/UEA, Jucimar Maia Júnior, and the coordinator of the Callidus Academy , a project that works at the unit, Ricardo Barboza, who represented the institution’s rector, André Zogahib, on the occasion.

Based on the Technological Innovation Law, the UEA Technology Park was designed to accelerate Science, Technology and Innovation (CT&I) businesses, focusing on the electronic games and semiconductors (chip raw material) segments. In practice, the idea is that the new space will house incubators, create new competitive technology-based companies and encourage the transfer of technologies.

For the vice-governor, the initiative is promising and can strengthen the Manaus Free Trade Zone (ZFM) through the training of specialized labor aimed at attracting new industries, such as the semiconductor market. Currently, points out Tadeu de Souza, there is a global movement to decentralize the production of these electronic components.

“The Technological Park would be an environment of multilateralism involving industry, government, economic agents and university research, so that we can fully explore the potential that Amazonas has in industry. More than ever, empowering and transforming this environment of innovation and technology is one of the priorities of the Wilson Lima Government”,

declared the lieutenant governor.

Triple Helix of Innovation

The director of EST/UEA explained that the Technology Park will be based on the concept known as the Triple Helix of Innovation, a partnership model between three fundamental pillars: university, company and government. According to him, this approach has proven to be effective in promoting economic and social development in Brazilian cities that already have projects of this type.

“UEA wants to consolidate itself as part of this innovation environment. Rector André Zogahib is very interested in innovation, in which we can collaborate and deliver to society everything that UEA does best”, said Jucimar Maia Júnior.

“It will certainly be a success with the help of the State Government”, added professor Ricardo Barboza.
