Goiás parliamentarian is target of the 15th phase of Operation Lesa Pátria

Two search and seizure warrants against a congressman from Goiás are executed by the Federal Police in Goiás, this Tuesday morning (29), in the 15th phase of Operation Lesa Pátria. The task force was launched shortly after the acts of January 8 that led to the invasion and depredation of the headquarters of the Three Powers, in Brasília.

In this new phase, the two warrants are served in the capital of Goiás, Goiânia, and in Pracanjuba (GO), against state deputy Amauri Ribeiro (União Brasil-GO), according to the investigation of GloboNews It’s from G1.

The completed warrants were authorized by Minister Alexandre de Moraes, of the Federal Supreme Court (STF).

“The goal [da operação é] identify people who incited, participated and promoted the events that occurred on 1/8”, says the PF in a note.

The deputy’s lawyer, Demóstenes Torres, said that Ribeiro’s cell phone was seized by the police, and that he had not yet had access to the investigation files.

In June of this year, Amauri Ribeiro admitted that he helped finance the camp set up in front of the Army Headquarters, in Brasília, between the day after the second round of the 2022 presidential election and January of this year.

“I helped pay for those who were there, I took food, water, gave money, I camped there and also stayed at the door”, he said during a session at the Legislative Assembly of Goiás.

Also according to the Federal Police, the facts investigated constitute, in theory, the crimes of violent abolition of the Democratic State of Law, coup d’état, qualified damage, criminal association, incitement to crime, destruction and deterioration or destruction of specially protected property and crimes of the terrorism law.
