Globo loses Hypera Pharma and Nivea for football in 2024 – 12/15/2023 – Television

Globo will lose two of its current sponsors for the Brazilian Championship and Copa do Brasil broadcasts in 2024. The pharmaceutical company Hypera Pharma and the cosmetics brand Nivea do not intend to continue exhibiting their brands in national competitions.

Despite this, the broadcaster has already defined most of its sponsors. In total, six companies renewed: Amazon, Ambev, Betnacional, Fiat, Vivo and Itaú. In the case of the latter, the bank will celebrate 32 years as a football sponsor on the country’s largest broadcaster. It is the longest-running advertising contract on Brazilian TV.

Even with the two losses, Globo must close the eight spaces for national tournaments that it has. A cosmetics brand is already in advanced talks to take Nivea’s place.

For the space left by Hypera, Globo is still negotiating with other companies. The idea is to sell everything before the end of 2023 and publish the agreements in Jornal Nacional, as the broadcaster usually does with the commercial package.

With the contracts already closed, Globo is guaranteed to raise R$1.560 billion just for broadcasts of Brasileirão and Copa do Brasil games.

If everything goes well and the other two spaces are negotiated, the projection is to raise R$2.080 billion in total. It is the most expensive advertising deal on Brazilian television.

It is worth mentioning that the commercial package only includes broadcasts of the national league and the Brazilian knockout stages. Matches for the Brazilian team, Libertadores and women’s football are sold separately to further increase revenue.

For Brasileirão and Copa do Brasil, Globo promises 46 broadcast dates in 2024. On open TV, there will be 38 rounds of the first competition and another eight games of the second. In the knockout stage, the broadcaster only starts broadcasting from the round of 16 stage.
