Nominated by the CBF, Rodrigo Novaes was approved in the selection process of the highest entity in South American football
Manaus (AM) – The General Secretary of the Amazon Football Federation (FAF), Rodrigo Novaes, achieved a historic feat by becoming the first Amazonian to perform the role of Match Official of the South American Football Confederation (Conmebol). Approval took place at Conmebol headquarters in Paraguay, after three months of intensive preparation. Now, Novaes is qualified to play in the entity’s prominent competitions, such as the Copa América and the Copa Libertadores.
With the highest score among newcomers, Novaes was the only Amazonian among the six Brazilians nominated by the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) to participate in the selection process. His nomination was strengthened by the solid relationship between FAF and CBF, personified by presidents Ednailson Rozenha and Ednaldo Rodrigues, respectively.
Conmebol’s newest Match Official reveals how he received approval, thanks the FAF and CBF for being nominated and tells us about the journey to reach the goal.

Rodrigo Novaes has an outstanding career as a manager of Amazonian clubs. At Fast Clube, he won a title after 45 years of fasting, marking his name in history. At Manaus FC, he was a three-time Amazonian champion, secured access to the Brasileirão Series C and currently serves as General Secretary of the FAF. Novaes also has experience as an Official Match Delegate at state and national level, leading crucial matches for Amazonas FC during their victorious campaign in Série C of the Brazilian Championship in 2023.
