Galdino scores another decisive goal and Grêmio beats Cuiabá away from home

Grêmio won again in the Brazilian Championship, defeating Cuiabá by 2-1 this Sunday, at Arena Pantanal, for the third round. Once again, striker Luis Suárez, who has yet to score in the tournament, missed the mark.

With the result, Grêmio went to seventh place, with six points, against only one from Cuiabá, which has not yet won in the competition.

Grêmio was confident from the beginning and opened the scoring after just nine minutes. Bitelo triggered Fábio by the tip. The side crossed and Vina went up alone to make it 1 to 0. But Cuiabá woke up and reacted quickly. Deyverson reached the tie, but the arbitration ended up catching the attacker’s offside and annulled the bid.

Despite the decision of referee Bruno Arleu de Araújo, Cuiabá grew and reached the goal, which this time was worth it, in the 28th minute. After Ceppelini’s corner kick, Empereur sent a header into the middle of the area. The ball fell to Marllon, who equalized.

Grêmio waited for Cuiabá to score before going on the attack again. In the 38th minute, Suárez received from Cristaldo and headed the crossbar. Before the final whistle, Bruno Alves also hit the post.

In the second half, the game was open. At 11 minutes, Bitello received it in speed and tried to score through coverage. Alan Empereur, however, avoided the goal over the line. On the other hand, Cuiabá responded with Deyverson. The striker beat Kannemann and headed the crossbar.

Renato, then, showed he had a star. It was just putting Everton Galdino in the game that everything changed. In the 22nd minute, the number 13 took advantage of the rebound, after Walter’s save, and scored the second. The third almost came out with Luis Suárez, who wasted two clear chances. In the end, the team from Rio Grande do Sul only managed the advantage to confirm the victory.

Cuiabá returns to the field on Sunday, at 11am, against América-MG, at Arena Independência, in Belo Horizonte (MG). On the same day, at 6:30 pm, Grêmio receives Red Bull Bragantino, at Arena do Grêmio, in Porto Alegre (RS).
