De Pena scores great goal, Inter wins Goiás and sleeps in G4 do Brasileirão

With the right to a great goal by De Pena, Internacional emerged victorious this Sunday, defeating Goiás by 1-0, in Beira-Rio, for the third round of the Brazilian Championship. With the victory, the team from Rio Grande do Sul sleeps in the G4 of the Brasileirão. Uruguayan De Pena’s goal, in addition to being very beautiful, was historic because it reached the club’s 1,000 mark in its participation in the Brazilian Championship in the ‘Era dos Pontos Corridos’.

Still undefeated, Internacional reached seven points and appears in fourth place. The club from Rio Grande do Sul can be overtaken by Vasco, which closes the round on Monday against Bahia. Goiás, on the other hand, experienced its second defeat and is in 15th place with three points.

With a mixed team, Internacional started the game sleepily. Taking advantage of the home team’s inattention, Goiás was not intimidated and went on the attack. Without letting the ball fall to the ground, the Uruguayan added a beautiful three-finger volley into the corner.

Goiás was rehearsing a reaction, but Maguinho complicated the Goiás intentions. One minute after being yellow carded for fouling Alan Patrick, the winger got the second card after leaving his arm in a ball dispute with Pedro Henrique and was expelled in the 15th minute.

With one more, Internacional controlled the match. With the ball on the ground, the team asserted numerical superiority and easily reached the attack. Despite being one less, the team from Goiás set up some counterattacks and took danger from the bottom line. In addition, Jean Dias felt an injury and the teams matched numerically. In the last attempt, Guilherme Marques headed free, but missed the target and Inter celebrated another victory in the Brasileirão.

In the next round, Internacional takes on São Paulo on Sunday, at 4 pm, in Morumbi. Before, the club has a commitment for the Copa Libertadores, against Nacional-URU, Wednesday, at 19h, in Beira-Rio. Goiás faces Palmeiras, on Sunday, at 6:30 pm, at the Serrinha stadium, in Goiânia (GO). The club also plays in the middle of the week, Thursday, at 7 pm, for the Copa Sudamericana, against Gimnasia, in Argentina.
