Gabriel Medina was beaten by the Australian Jack Robinson in the final of the stage in Tahiti and is out of contention for the WSL Finals and for his fourth championship on the World Surfing Circuit, in September, in California.
The Brazilian will have one more chance to qualify for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, through the ISA Games.
The three-time world champion ended the season outside the top five in the ranking.
Robinson heads into the Finals fifth in the rankings. João Chumbinho, in fourth place, is also in the Finals. The first three spots belong to Filipe Toledo, Griffin Colapinto and Ethan Ewing.
