Dear Sir,

I’m writing to you because I saw that, after getting into a fight with the Jews, you explained yourself by saying that you never spoke about the Holocaust. Going to the literality of your statements, the reason is with you. Recap.

In Addis Ababa, you said the following: “What is happening in the Gaza Strip with the Palestinian people does not exist at any other historical moment. In fact, it existed when Hitler decided to kill the Jews.”

Days later, when explaining himself, you clarified: “Don’t try to interpret the interview I gave. Read the interview and stop judging me based on what the Prime Minister of Israel said. […] First of all, I didn’t say the word Holocaust. Holocaust was the interpretation of the Prime Minister of Israel. It wasn’t mine. The second thing is this, death is death.”

Mr. President, in this way, everything was summed up in five words: “Hitler decided to kill the Jews.” Do you really think that I decided to kill the Jews and that resulted in a machine that exterminated 6 million people?

Jews were killed before and after Hitler, but only during my government was there what is now called the Holocaust. There is not one without the other.

During the entire time I governed the Reich, I persecuted the Jews and everything that happened to them had my encouragement and approval, but I write to you to clarify that nothing that happened was due to Hitler alone.

Again, I recapitulate, focusing on the period after the arrival of Europeans in the land that you govern.

On Easter 1506, 2,000 Jews were massacred in Lisbon. In 1647, Isaac de Castro, who had lived in Pernambuco and Bahia, was burned alive in Terreiro do Paço. In 1739, it was the turn of António José da Silva Coutinho, a Jew who was born in Rio and wrote things for the theater.

Here where I am, I live with several popes, but they ask me not to mention them. I was five years old when Edgar Degas, this great French painter, expelled a young girl from his studio when he suspected she was Jewish.

In the early 20th century, when I began to denounce Jews, I was not alone. The Emperor of Germany, William II, lived in exile and said that for those “parasites […]I believe the best treatment would be gas.”

I, Adolf Hitler, have never been alone. I think the Jews should be expelled from Palestine, and again, I’m not alone. The Gaza war proves this.

When you say that I decided to kill them, you exaggerate. Turning myself into a scapegoat is easy, but useless. Take the case of Adolf Eichmann. It’s true that I followed orders, but look at the attendance list at the meeting that structured the bureaucracy of the Final Solution, ordered by me. It took place in Berlin, in 1942, with 15 participants, including him. (I had more to do.)

After the war ended, I came here and the responsibilities began to be dumped on me. Of the 15, 2 had already died, 1 killed himself, 3 were executed and another 2 disappeared. There were 7 left. They all got light sentences. One of them, after serving his sentence, got a public job. He was retried and in 1951 was ordered to pay a fine of some $100 in today’s money.
