FPA wants to overturn Lula’s vetoes on the time frame this week

The vice-president of the Parliamentary Agricultural Front (FPA) Arnaldo Jardim stated that the bench will seek to include vetoes to the time frame in this week’s Congress session. The meeting is scheduled for this Thursday (26). The agricultural bench seeks to overturn the vetoes made by President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) to ensure that the time frame for the demarcation of indigenous lands is respected.
“We don’t want it this year. We want this week!”, stated deputy Arnaldo Jardim (Cidadania-SP), pointing out that the topic brings a lot of legal uncertainty and cannot be left for later. Without overturning the vetoes, rural properties can be expropriated even if they have titles prior to the promulgation of the Federal Constitution, on October 5, 1988.
The sessions of the National Congress aimed at considering vetoes are called by the president, senator Rodrigo Pacheco (PSD-MG). Despite pressure from the agribusiness bench, the agenda released for this week includes 37 items, including vetoes and Congressional bills on the Federal Budget, and there is still nothing about the time frame.
