The Center for Strategic Studies and Debates (Give in) of the Chamber of Deputies debates, this Tuesday, 24th, starting at 4pm, the contribution of restorative pedagogy in combating violence in schools, at the request of the parliamentarian from Amapá, Teacher Goreth, in addition to Reimont (RJ) and Jorge Goetten (SC).

Cedes is a collegiate body made up of 23 parliamentarians, functioning as a technical-consultative body of the Chamber of Deputies dedicated to the analysis and discussion of topics of an innovative nature or with the potential to transform the economic, political and social realities of Brazil.

This Tuesday, deputies should discuss the experience of restorative pedagogy created in Amapá in the management of Professor Goreth as state secretary of education, in the then government of today’s minister of integration and regional development, Waldez Góes.

Restorative pedagogy was presented in the Federal Chamber, by the Professor Goreth, in the form of a bill already approved for application at national level. This Tuesday morning, on the program ‘LuizMeloInterview’ (Diário FM 90.9)the parliamentarian spoke about the subject.

Goreth said that restorative pedagogy is a new concept applied in schools to make students aware of the need for a culture of peace and take this to society, which is facing a difficult situation with regard to violence. “But for this, it is also necessary to involve several entities and bodies, such as the Ministry of Education itself”highlighted the deputy.

The debate by the Center for Strategic Studies and Debates of the Federal Chamber takes place the day after the attack by a 16-year-old teenager who shot dead a student and injured two others at the Sapopemba State School, in São Paulo. With this case, attacks on schools in Brazil have risen to 25 since last April.

The shooter was a student at the school and allegedly shot at classmates because he was being bullied. He was apprehended by the Military Police. A Professor Goreth, at the ‘LuizMeloInterview’noted that if restorative pedagogy had been applied, in the São Paulo school the tragedy would certainly not have occurred, because the bullying practiced against the student would have been detected and overcome.

“School is a place for healthy, respectful relationships. This reduces violence and reverberates throughout society. I advocate that seeks to restore relationships between people; We must learn to live in peace and for that there is restorative pedagogy as an instrument”warned the Teacher Goreth.
