Stanley Wilson Jr., former NFL player, died at the age of 40 after collapsing in a psychiatric hospital where he was.
The cause of death is still being investigated, according to information from the American website ‘TMZ’. The fainting would have happened in early February.
Wilson was admitted to Metropolitan State Hospital in Los Angeles after being declared unfit to stand trial. He was arrested in August last year for vandalism.
After being forced into retirement due to an Achilles tendon injury, Stanley ran into numerous brushes with the law. In 2016, he was charged with attempted burglary after he was shot in the abdomen when he allegedly tried to break into a Portland home stark naked.
Shortly after, in 2017, he was arrested after being accused of walking naked on the streets of Portland. He was arrested for the third time also in 2017, after another alleged break-in attempt.
Wilson had a short football career, was drafted by the Lions in 2005, but was forced to hang up his boots in 2008.
