Former federal deputy David Miranda (PDT-RJ) passed away this Tuesday (9). Married to journalist Glenn Greenwald, he had been hospitalized since August last year in Rio de Janeiro.
The announcement was made by Glenn on social media. His death this morning came after a 9-month battle in the ICU. He died in complete peace, surrounded by our children, family and friends,” he wrote.
President Lula (PT) published a note expressing solidarity with the family and stating that David was a “young man with an extraordinary trajectory who left too soon”.
Miranda took office in the Chamber of Deputies in 2019, after former deputy Jean Wyllys resigned from office. On social media, Wyllys reacted with sadness to the announcement about the death.
“How sad! My condolences to his family and friends. May he now rest in peace!” he wrote.
