‘Football continues to give me life’, says Jenni Hermoso – 02/27/2024 – Sport

Striker Jenni Hermoso said this Tuesday (27) that “football continues to give me life”, after everything she has experienced in recent months, and declared herself “happy” to be able to play in another final for the Spanish national team.

The ‘Roja’, world champions last year, will face France on Wednesday (28) in the decision of the UEFA (Union of European Football Associations) Women’s Nations League, after sealing, with their finalist status, a place at the Paris Olympic Games.

“I’m lucky to be back playing in another final after six very long months and today I’m enjoying football, competing with Spain to win another tournament,” Hermoso said at a press conference.

The player appears to have turned the page after the forced kiss of the former president of the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) Luis Rubiales at the medal ceremony after the World Cup final in Australia and New Zealand, an episode that generated worldwide outrage.

Since his last press conference, just before the World Cup semi-final, “a lot of things have happened”, he recalled.

“For me it is very important to play in another final, to continue here. I feel good, football continues to give me life, I want to continue enjoying the games with my national team and with Tigres [seu time no México]”, he stated.

The Spaniard made no secret of the fact that since the Women’s World Cup final she has gone through “a tough process”, but “I continue playing football and the only thing I want is to continue wearing this shirt”.

“If we win tomorrow, Spain will make history again. This will mean that Spanish players continue to evolve in their projection for the future”, he considered.

“Whether they win or not, Spain will be victorious because they continue at a very high level,” Hermoso insisted.

“From the time we won the World Cup until we reached the Games [Olímpicos]we are making a lot of history in a short time, and there is nothing better than a team feeling like a champion in every way”, he stated.

“We have a very beautiful ambition and tomorrow we have another opportunity to show that Spain is here to stay”, concluded Hermoso.
