Flávio says that action against Zambelli targets Bolsonaro – 03/08/2023 – Politics

Senator Flávio Bolsonaro (PL-RJ) said that deputy Carla Zambelli (PL-SP) is the victim of a “crazy” and “unbridled” attempt to target former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL).

The parliamentarian was targeted by a Federal Police operation this Wednesday morning (2). The police carried out search and seizure warrants at addresses linked to her and arrested Walter Delgatti, known as the “Vaza Jato” hacker.

“It is an unbridled and crazy attempt to reach Bolsonaro, to find something concrete that involves Bolsonaro, which will not happen, because it does not exist. She is being another victim of this in my point of view”, said Flávio, son of the former president, to Sheet.

Zambelli and Delgatti are suspected of acting in a plot that targeted Justice Alexandre de Moraes, of the STF, and which resulted in the invasion of the CNJ (National Council of Justice) systems and the insertion of false release permits.

The deputy also mediated a meeting between Delgatti and Bolsonaro. According to the hacker reported to investigators, the then president asked if he could break into the electronic voting system.

The deputy confirmed the hacker’s version, but said that Bolsonaro asked if he would be able to defraud polls to find out if the TSE (Superior Electoral Court) system was reliable.

“As much as she had conversations on any subject with that hacker, absolutely nothing was proven and, once again, even if it was proven that there was a conversation in those terms, there is no crime in it”, said Flávio.

The parliamentarian also arranged a meeting between the hacker and the president of the PL, Valdemar Costa Neto. At the time, according to the parliamentarian, Delgatti offered ballot audit services, but the conversation did not advance.

“What he [Delgatti] spoke, his version would have to be proven. And even if it is somehow proven, there was no crime. There was no attempt to do anything or nothing was done about this supposed conversation he would have had with Zambelli”, added Flávio.

Bolsonaro’s allies attribute part of the blame for the defeat in the presidential election to the deputy, for the episode in which she pursued a black man carrying a gun. Therefore, some people close to the former president say that he should keep his distance from the parliamentarian to avoid being involved in the operation, something that Flávio rejects.

The senator evaluated that she “has always been an ally”, denied that there is a removal and said that the party needs to defend her.

“She is a leader, she knows how to play politics, she understands the scenario that we are currently living in Brazil. We have to support her, even more so when I understand that she has done absolutely nothing wrong”, emphasized Flávio.

According to the eldest son of the former president, “everyone around Bolsonaro, sooner or later, will become a target because the goal is to hit him.”

For the senator, the relationship between Carla and her father was never shaken. “The president has a good relationship with her, he is present at all events, and all the strength for Zambelli.”
