Senator Flávio Bolsonaro (PL-RJ) criticized the performance of the Federal Police in the government of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT), after reporting on the operation against his brother, Carlos Bolsonaro, last Monday (29 ). According to Flávio, there is a “Parallel Federal Police” destroying the credibility of the institution.

“I miss that Federal Police that knocked on the doors of criminals who had grounds, subsidies, evidence, witnesses, statements from people who stole public money. They carried out operations to arrest drug gangs and traffickers. Now, to arrest the political opponent of the current government?!”, said the senator in a press conference, after meeting with the president of Congress, Rodrigo Pacheco.

The son of former president Jair Bolsonaro also accused the Justice of practicing the so-called “evidence fishing”, in which searches for evidence are carried out without probable cause or with causes different from what is actually sought, to reach people chosen as targets. He mentioned that the PF searched the house in Angra dos Reis (RJ), whose official target was councilor Carlos Bolsonaro. However, he said that the police discussed the possibility of seizing cell phones from the entire family.

“Yes, there was a non-republican intention to seize all the devices belonging to the four Bolsonaros. But for some reason, at the moment, the delegate carrying out the task made a call and decided to backtrack. Even Eduardo Bolsonaro’s security guards’ cell phones were found to be seized and returned”, reported the senator.

The parliamentarian also said that there is dissemination of fake news by the “parallel Federal Police” with political intentions. “I sincerely hope that the Federal Police itself carries out a self-analysis and internally purges this small group, this cancer that is the parallel Federal Police used to persecute political opponents,” he said.

This Wednesday (31), opposition senators met with the president of Congress Rodrigo Pacheco to discuss recent operations by the Federal Police (PF) against parliamentarians and present legislative suggestions to rebalance the relationship between the Powers.

According to Flávio, the meeting with Pacheco was also to “show that today there is a situation, yes, to pursue a political spectrum linked to [o ex-presidente Jair] Bolsonaro in Brazil, which unbalances democracy.”

In less than a month, two parliamentarians from the former president’s party, Carlos Jordy (PL-RJ) and Alexandre Ramagem (PL-RJ), were targets of a PF operation. Both were caught by “surprise” and “woken up” by police officers with search and seizure warrants in the morning at their homes. Parliamentarians who are part of the support base for the former president fear that they will be the next target.
