Senator Flávio Bolsonaro (PL-RJ) stated this Monday (8) that he does not believe in the possibility of arrest of Jair Bolsonaro (PL) and said that the population perceives an alleged persecution of his father.

He also said, in reference to the minister of the STF (Supreme Federal Court) Alexandre de Moraes, that the matter is only discussed in the current situation because a person would have “carte blanche” to do whatever he wants in court.

“In the current scenario, there is this speculation because it seems that there is a person who has carte blanche to do whatever he wants, regardless of what is written in the Constitution, in the legislation, which is wrong”, said the parliamentarian in an interview with the program Roda Viva, from TV Cultura.

Flávio also stated that the population has perceived persecution of the former president and that this has given him greater popular support.

“The population’s perception is that there is a persecution and the obvious consequence of this is what is happening now: wherever Bolsonaro goes, he is received as if it were Brazil returning from the 2002 World Cup”, he argued.

The senator denied that the former president was seeking political asylum when he stayed for two days at the Hungarian embassy in Brazil, four days after having his passport detained by the Federal Police in February. He said he didn’t know what his father did there.

“If there is one thing that Bolsonaro cannot be accused of, it is that he is hiding”, he highlighted, also reiterating the thesis that the former president went to the official Hungarian mission to maintain contact with foreign authorities.

Bolsonaro is the target of an investigation by the PF, authorized by the court, which revealed details about a coup plot that involved meetings in the Planalto and Alvorada palaces, the creation of a draft with the procedures to execute the plan and the attempt to bring the top of the Armed Forces for this articulation.

In the interview, the former president’s 1st son also criticized the STF’s actions and called the investigation into digital militias, conducted by Moraes, a “black hole”. For him, it is the Brazilian Supreme Court that must rescue institutional normality in the country by archiving these investigations.

Regarding the coup plot, Flávio compared it to buying land on the moon and said that an attempted coup would be an “impossible crime” and illogical, since, according to him, there was no attempt or planning for an institutional rupture.

Furthermore, he resumed questions, without any proof, that Lula’s (PT) trip to Araraquara (270 km from the capital of São Paulo) would be “a farce” to escape the coup attacks of January 8, which according to him, they were at least aware of. by the government.

“What did he do from Saturday to Sunday on a trip to a place where the ministers had already gone? He says it was to show solidarity. I think he left Brasília hoping for what happened on January 8 to happen.”

Maintaining his criticism of the Supreme Court, he denied that businessman Elon Musk, now involved in a dispute with Moraes after stating that he would disobey court orders issued by Brazilian magistrates at X (formerly Twitter), was doing anything wrong.

“An American citizen, a private company, from my point of view did not commit any crime, he just spoke, took a position, asked a question to the minister who uses his social network. Elon Musk does not have a photo due to his role, everything is wrong. The minister once again makes a monocratic decision, before any act was committed, already including him in the investigation.”
