Red-black President highlighted the size of the Amazonian fans as a condition for the choice

Manaus (AM) – The president of the Clube de Regatas do Flamengo, Rodolfo Landim, declared his intention to hold the red-black team’s games for the 2024 Carioca Championship in two cities in the North region, Belém and Manaus. The information was revealed during the Carioca launch event.

“There are two cities that we have the idea of hosting (Flamengo games). I already had a conversation with the Governor (of Pará, Helder Barbalho, MDB), who carried out the remodeling of Mangueirão. We have the idea of taking a game there, where there is a very strong Flamengo fan base”,

said Landim.

Furthermore, the president highlighted the strength of the Manaus fans. “We continuously monitor the audiences at Flamengo games and there is a huge number of fans from Manaus. It is the fourth state that places the most people in many games at Maracanã, behind Minas Gerais, Espírito Santo and São Paulo. We have to give back to them.”

In the first round of the Carioca Championship, Flamengo faces Audax (RJ). The match is scheduled for January 17th, with no location yet defined.

“Carioca is a very important championship, it has a charm. Of all the states, it is the one with the greatest appeal. Rio clubs have fans spread across Brazil. It’s something we’re going to try to promote this year. Put some Flamengo games outside of Rio de Janeiro, to transform Carioca into a national championship”,

concluded.
