Inaugurated in 1950, the Glicério Marques Stadium, known as “Gigante da Favela”, is one of the most traditional sports-oriented spaces in the capital. Currently, the place is undergoing total restructuring to become a large sports complex and the works, carried out by the Municipality of Macapá, continue to advance.
The first stage has 95% of the revitalization completed. The second and third stages are in progress.
The work is the result of three parliamentary amendments, two of which by Senator Davi Alcolumbre – one worth R$ 7.8 million, with a municipal counterpart of approximately R$ 2 million; and another amendment in the amount of R$ 2.1 million, which will be used to build all the equipment.
The third amendment was sent by the then federal deputy Evandro Milhomem, in the amount of R$ 2 million, which will be used specifically for the revitalization and drainage installations and the new lawn of the field.
1st STAGE
The first stage has 95% of the works concluded. The general structuring services of the space are carried out there, such as electrical installations, fire fighting system, urbanization, drainage, landscaping, hydrosanitary system and the construction of three water reservoirs.
At the moment, electrical adjustments are being made to the locker rooms, snack bars, toilets and watchtowers, painting services in these buildings and bathroom fixtures in the locker rooms. In Guarita 2, the finalization of the slab, masonry and lighting system is being carried out and, finally, the execution of the hydrants of the firefighting system.
2nd STAGE
In the second stage, which started in December 2021, a Fight and Dance Block is being built, a Skateboard track, a gym for the elderly, a gym for young people and adults and a society field.
This phase has 69% of the works completed, with the academies and the society field fully concluded. The skate park in the installation stage of the industrial floor and execution of the foundation, and the Fight and Dance Block with hydraulic and electrical services in progress.
3rd STAGE
The third stage consists of reforming the field and installing synthetic grass. With 30% of the works completed, earthmoving, landfill and compaction of the soil subgrade have already been carried out. The installation of the drainage of the field is already in the finalization phase.
FAVELA GIANT
Founded on January 15, 1950, the Glicério Marques stadium is 73 years old, even five months older than the traditional Maracanã stadium.
In its field, the scene of unforgettable clashes in regional and state disputes, great local players such as Aldo, Baraquinha, Prachedes, Castelo, Bira, Bio Maravilha, Jason and many others who stood out in the clubs of the state during disputes of the Copa da Amazônia , Copa do Brasil, Amapazão, Série D and Copa Verde.
