The Minister of Ports and Airports, Silvio Costa Filho, stated that the Voa Brasil program will be launched soon. The initiative provides air tickets for R$200 each way for retirees and pensioners who have not flown in the last 12 months and students enrolled in ProUni. The expectation is that 21 million people will benefit in the first stage.

“We just need an agenda alignment with President Lula, for us to launch”, said the minister in an interview with the portal UOL released this Friday (16). The exact number of tickets for the first phase must be announced on the launch day. The initiative emerged right at the beginning of the government, when the Minister of Ports and Airports was Márcio França (PSB).

After the launch was announced and postponed, the department’s advisors stated at the beginning of this month that the new date for the program’s officialization would be defined after Carnival. Costa Filho negotiated with the three main airlines – Azul, Gol and Latam -, which together have a 99.5% market share, around 6 million airline tickets for this year. The price will be fixed for any city, but in the initial period not all destinations in Brazil will be included.
