A video in which Daniel Alves appears giving evidence in court was shown on the night of this Wednesday (20) by the television channel Antena 3, in Spain. The Brazilian player has been in prison since January 20, accused of rape, and the statement in question took place on April 17, at the request of the defense.

Alves stated on this occasion that the victim may have denounced him for the lack of intimacy after the act. He was asked by the judge why the young woman had accused him of rape, if the act was consensual, as he had stated. He replied that he believed that because they arranged to leave the bathroom separately and act discreetly, without him showing attention or affection after the act, she may have been offended.

The deposition was not shown in full. The TV aired only small excerpts, with Alves appearing in the background. The 39-year-old winger is accused of having raped a 23-year-old girl in the VIP area of ​​a Barcelona nightclub on December 31 of last year. The trial should take place in the second half of this year.

In the same statement, the player’s lawyer, Cristóbal Martell Pérez-Alcalde, presented a report analyzing frame by frame the images captured by the nightclub’s security cameras and the testimonies of the victim and her two friends.

In the statement, Alves stated that he has always had respectful relationships with women and that he does not take a step without realizing that there is a connection and predisposition on both sides. He also said that the interest between them was mutual.

According to him, they danced and talked, especially with the alleged victim. Then he says he proposed going somewhere private, they had sex and she never said to stop.

According to her testimony, Alves called the three friends to the VIP area of ​​the nightclub and would have stood behind the young woman. “He took my hand, put it on his penis and I took it off,” she said in the deposition. Alves would have taken her to the bathroom, where he would have said “that I couldn’t leave”.

According to her testimony to the Justice, he would have forced her head onto his penis and then slapped her. Then, he would have turned the young woman into position and penetrated her until he ejaculated. After informing the security guards, the victim was seen at Hospital Clínic, whose medical report would have indicated traits consistent with an assault.

In his first statement, Daniel Alves contradicted himself by saying that there was a consensual relationship. Before, however, he had said that he did not know and had not been involved with the alleged victim. Afterwards, the defense admitted that the player changed his version and started to work with the idea that there was a “consensual relationship” with the alleged victim.
