Fans are invited to join “Recycle, Guys”, aiming to make the event more sustainable

Parintins (AM) – The Caprichoso and Garantido oxen galleys will be key players at the 56th Parintins Folk Festival. For the second consecutive year, fans are invited to participate in the “Recycle, Guys” project, which will promote a more sustainable festival by encouraging the correct disposal of recyclable waste generated during the event.

Promoted by the Government of Amazonas, through the State Secretariat for the Environment (Sema), and by Coca-Cola Brasil, the proposal is to integrate the players into the sustainability agenda, which this year is one of the tripods that carry out the Festival, alongside of Culture and Tourism.

“One of the main axes of ‘Recicla’ is focused on the management of recyclable waste, so it’s only fair that we take this environmental awareness in the form of a competition, engaging the crowd inside the bumbódromo. The environment wins and, of course, the cattle that do their part in recycling the most”,

explained the Secretary of State for the Environment, Eduardo Taveira.

The performance of the crews inside the Bumbódromo will be decisive in the competition that will give the title of sustainable champion of the Festival to one of the two oxen. In addition, it will be essential to guarantee a cleaner and more sustainable event through the correct disposal of waste.

The crowd’s bumbá that correctly disposes of the largest amount of waste during the three nights of the Festival will receive, in addition to the title, a prize of R$ 20,000.

For Coca-Cola Brasil, official sponsor of the festival for 27 years, “Recicla, Galera” reinforces the company’s commitment to creating initiatives that generate impact in the communities in which it operates. In this edition, in addition to promoting the correct disposal of recyclable waste, the project will also generate income for the community through various initiatives that go beyond the competition with the gangs.

“For this reason, at Coca-Cola Brazil, we dedicate efforts and investments in actions that promote social, environmental and economic impact in the communities where we operate. This project is in line with our global agenda to create a World Without Waste, in which we set specific goals in waste management. In addition, we believe that initiatives like this reinforce our commitment to the economic and social development of the State, since they benefit the local population”,

reinforces the Director of Government Relations of Coca-Cola Brazil, Victor Bicca.

How to participate

Upon entering the bumbódromo, fans of the galleys will receive biodegradable bags to store all recyclable waste generated during the presentations, such as aluminum cans, plastic bottles, disposable cups and cardboard props.

At the end of the presentations, they must take the collected material to the official recycling bin for their ox, which will be located at the exit of the stands. The waste will be sent to the Sustainable Space “Recicla, Galera”, in Praça da Liberdade, where the material will be sorted and weighed by the Association of Collectors of Parintins (Ascalpin), for the accounting of the points of each galley.

At the end of the three nights, the Bumbá of the group that has sent the most materials for recycling will win R$ 20,000 for investments in sustainability actions within the association. The proposal is to further encourage the adoption of sustainable practices by cattle.
