The ophthalmological exam will serve to measure the functional capacity of the vision of students between 07 and 12 years old
Manaus (AM) – Law No. 6,188, of January 3, 2023, authored by State Deputy Felipe Souza (Patriota), was sanctioned, which makes it mandatory to test visual acuity in students from schools in the State Network of Amazonas.
Research indicates that poor school performance in children is directly linked to undiagnosed vision problems. The ophthalmological exam will serve to measure the functional capacity of the vision of students between 07 and 12 years old, enrolled in schools.
For the parliamentarian, creating the obligation of this law will guarantee positive results in public education.
“This Law is of great importance for advancing the quality of teaching and learning for students in the state network. Turning this project into a permanent school evaluation action means curbing school dropouts.”,
said Felipe Souza.
Partnership
The State University of Amazonas (UEA) could be a partner in this action, through the supervised collaboration of medical school students, in exams related to the Visual Acuity Week in Schools.
