Federal government invests R$350 million to resolve energy issues in Amapá – News of Brazil

The minister of mines and energy, Alexandre Silveira, was in Macapá, this Monday, 18th, at the delivery ceremony of the Miracema Housing Complex.
During his speech, the president Lula gave the floor to the MME holder to clarify the energy issue in the state.
But even before giving the floor to the minister, Lula highlighted visit that the governor Clécio Luís did to him, in Brasília, when he lamented: “The people of Amapá are devastated, energy will increase by 44.41%”. “I thought, how can I pay for all this if I don’t raise my salary?” recalled the president.
When assuming his moment of speech, Alexandre Silveira first greeted the president and celebrated the return of the programs ‘My home, my life’of ‘Popular Pharmacy’It’s from ‘Light for All’. “Brazil is back!”cried the minister.
“We are here to solve a very serious problem”he said Alexander, regarding the 44.41% increase in energy tariffs. “It was no less than a dozen times that I received Senator David Alcolumbre, the minister Waldez Góes, the governor Clécio Luís and the phone calls from Randolfe, saying that the people of Amapá cannot pay this increase”highlighted the minister.
Regarding the increase of 44.41%, Alexander explained: “It’s important for people to understand this; they did a social injustice to the Brazilian people, to the people of the Northeast and the people of the North”.
“In recent years they have created a great social injustice. The states that generate the most energy in Brazil, unfortunately, thanks to the irresponsibility of the previous government, have the most expensive tariffs in the country, as they opened the market unfairly”denounced Alexandre.
“We have around 90 million consumer units in Brazil, three million units are on the free market, which means they buy energy outside the regular market. Eighty-seven million receive the energy bill and pay using the distributors, these three million who consume 45% of Brazil’s energy pay around R$250 per megawatt, the rest of the people pay R$650 per megawatt, it’s a decision coward against the Brazilian people”said the head of the Ministry of Mines and Energy.
In the North, we have hydroelectric, wind and solar plants; of the Northeast, the region that produces the most energy and pays the most.
Alexander also explained that during the previous federal administration, during the covid-19 pandemic, loans of 15% per year were made to benefit bankers, and the bills were paid by regular energy consumers.
“When there was a power outage two years ago, and we were close to energy collapse, with the risk of Brazil stopping due to a lack of planning, past managers went to the financial market again and took another five billion in the name of regular energy consumers”informed the minister.
“I was called to solve the problem of the people of Amapá, the increase in Aneel is unacceptable. The people will only pay the national average. For this to happen, in an exceptional way, the government is investing 350 million reais to solve the problem, God bless the people of Amapá!”concluded Alexander.
