Bivalent vaccine booster is available for elderly and immunosuppressed users

The vaccine is available in more than 70 available vaccination centers, starting this Monday (18)

Manaus (AM) – Manaus City Hall began, this Monday (18), offering boosters of the bivalent Pfizer vaccine to people aged 60 or over and users with immunosuppression aged 12 and over. The vaccine is being made available by the Municipal Health Department (Semsa) in more than 70 units distributed in all geographic areas of the capital both during regular hours, from 8 am to 5 pm, and during extended hours, from 7 am to 8 pm. The bivalent strengthens immunity against severe forms of Covid-19.

The municipal health secretary, Shádia Fraxe, reiterates the municipal management’s commitment to keeping the epidemiological scenario of Covid-19 under control in the capital and appeals to people who are part of these groups to protect themselves from Covid-19 by taking the vaccine.

“Bivalent is known to generate an important immune response, which prevents the development of severe forms, which debilitate people and often require hospitalization. We reinforce the request for seniors aged 60 or over and people with immunosuppression within six months of the last dose, to seek out our units to fulfill this important mission”, he emphasizes.

Self-employed Maria Santana, 63 years old, decided to make room in her hectic schedule to go to the Family Health Unit (USF) Dr. José Rayol dos Santos, located on Avenida Constantino Nery, in the Chapada neighborhood, Central-South area of ​​Manaus , and get vaccinated.

“I am always on alert because the vaccine guarantees my well-being. I inform myself, I read a lot, I check my doses. Even in the rush, we need to find a way to get vaccinated, to become stronger. I ask everyone to come and take the vaccine to prevent the disease from threatening their lives and those who live with them,” she advised.

The offer of the immunizing agent that protects against the original variant of Covid-19 and the subvariants of ômicrom, in Manaus is based on guidance from the Ministry of Health, which, through technical note nº 83/2003, advises the offer of the vaccine to vulnerable groups due to the emergence of new strains and the occurrence of an outbreak in Ceará.

The population can consult the addresses and opening hours of Semsa’s 73 health units that offer the bivalent vaccine, via the link: bit.ly/localvacinacovid19.

To receive the vaccine, users must present an official document with photo, SUS National Card and vaccination card.

Through the Imuniza Manaus platform (imuniza.manaus.am.gov.br), users can check the doses they have already received and whether they are eligible to receive booster doses.
