Fametro Medicine: Medical Academic presents research in Toronto, Canada

For Matheus Dutra, this is an opportunity to exchange knowledge and experiences in his academic career

Manaus (AM) — 5th period Medicine student, Matheus Dutra, from Centro Universitário Fametro, will represent, this Friday (22), the institution at the Anatomy Connected congress, in Toronto, Canada. The event, organized by the American Anatomy Association and in its 30th edition, will bring together experts and academics in the field between March 22 and 25, 2024.

Matheus Dutra will be accompanied by 12 other students from different institutions in Amazonas, such as the State University of Amazonas (UEA) and the Federal University of Amazonas (Ufam). They will present four research studies developed with the aim of showing anatomical variations of the cardiovascular system.

For Matheus Dutra, this is an opportunity to exchange knowledge and experiences in his academic career, and his interest in Anatomy arose during classes at Centro Universitário Fametro.

“Initially, the interest occurred in the anatomy classes, and also due to the teachers and the institution’s support for students. Fametro helped me get to the congress, and it will be a great experience to present this project, being an important step in my academic life”,

said the student.

Discover what anatomical variations are

Anatomical variations can be caused by several factors, such as genetic predisposition or problems during development.

Some of these variations do not affect patients’ health, while others are extremely rare and may pose risks. An example of this is a study conducted by the academic in collaboration with a research group at UEA, which investigates a variation in the origin of the vertebral arteries, arising directly from the aortic arch. This discovery was possible thanks to scientific research.
