Even without being sure that it is money from the Union, the government considers judicial deposits in Caixa as revenue

The Ministry of Finance is counting on the inclusion of R$ 12.6 billion in revenues from Caixa’s judicial deposits in this year’s Budget. However, there is no certainty that these resources will be passed on to the Union. An article published by “Folha de S.Paulo” shows that, according to the bank’s data, the value of funds at rest with indications of connection to actions involving federal agencies is much smaller: BRL 9.6 billion. Resources need to be directed to the single account of the National Treasury.

There is another R$ 6.4 billion that did not have the CNPJ informed by the depositor. They can be both resources that the Union may have as one of the parties involved or private deposits that need to be retained in Caixa.

The Minister of Finance, Fernando Haddad, counts on extraordinary revenues like this one to reduce the fiscal deficit programmed for 2023. The economic team promised R$ 100 billion, but so far it is at R$ 145.5 billion.
