President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) was booed during the March for Jesus, even without having attended the evangelical event that attracted thousands of faithful to the city of São Paulo this Thursday (8). The PT member received an invitation from the organizers to go to the act, but he declined and sent in his place the chief minister of the Attorney General’s Office (AGU), Jorge Messias, and federal deputy Benedita da Silva (PT).

The boo occurred at the moment when Messias mentioned Lula’s name when speaking on the stage of the event. “I came here to tell you, at the request of the president, that there are men and women in Brasilia who live for the Kingdom (of God) and that we are there, not because of our leg, but lifted up by God to fulfill a purpose. that our people want peace. This is the message the president asked me to bring you”, said the minister, being interrupted by boos.

According to the newspaper Estado de S. Paulo, the organizer of the March for Jesus, the apostle Estevam Hernandes, even made a gesture for the faithful to stop the booing.

Last year, former president Jair Bolsonaro participated in several editions of the March for Jesus in different Brazilian capitals. This year he will not participate in the act in São Paulo, but his allies, such as governor Tarcísio de Freitas, will be present.
