Entities linked to black and periphery movements released texts in which they defend the permanence of the Minister of Human Rights, Silvio Almeida, in office.
A change in the portfolio has been speculated in recent days, as a way to help accommodate new parties in the Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) government.
One of the entities that demonstrated is the Frente Favela Brasil. “Millions of residents of slums, outskirts, quilombos, villages, cities and fields in this country felt and live through the Ministry of Human Rights the existence of their lives and the appreciation of their existence”, he says.
Almeida also supported Rede Quilombação and Convergência Negra. “Minister Silvio Almeida represents the majority of the Brazilian population – black men and women – and has managed at the head of his portfolio in defense of the rights of this majority”, says Convergência.
