The Municipal Department of Water and Sewage (Dmae) will have engineer Maurício Loss, current deputy of the Municipal Secretariat for the Environment, Urbanism and Sustainability (Smamus), as CEO. The announcement was made by the mayor of Porto Alegre Sebastião Melo (MDB) this Wednesday (18), before temporarily leaving office for the vacation period between January 19 and 31.

The mayor highlighted the contributions of Alexandre Garcia, current director of Dmae, in facing the challenges of water supply and carrying out infrastructure works. “We made progress under Alexandre’s management, with the start of symbolic works such as Ponta do Arado, evolution of interventions in Arroio Areia, investment in dredging streams and in reservoirs and networks. Our challenge is to continue evolving towards the concession to deliver better services citizens,” said Melo.

Newly responsible for water and sewage in the capital of Rio Grande do Sul, Loss joined the City Hall in March 2021 as Project Manager at Dmae. Chemical engineer with a postgraduate degree in Business Administration, he worked from 2017 to 2020 at the City Hall of Canoas.
