After the negative result of Emílio Santiago’s DNA to prove the paternity of Aleksander Nunes, his lawyer, Bruno Maher, will ask for the test to be challenged. It builds on recent developments surrounding the singer’s heritage.

At the beginning of the year, Emílio’s sister, Hercília Santiago, asked the Public Ministry to open a criminal investigation against the singer’s companion, Marcio Tadeu, who was recognized by the Justice in view of the request for a stable union between the two. The dispute involves an equity of R$ 10 million and has dragged on for years.
Hercília asked for a break in the inventory process and alleges that she fears for the squandering of her brother’s assets. In the action, she accuses Marcio Tadeu, Emílio’s companion, of ideological falsehood, embezzlement and false testimony. She accuses her brother-in-law of having manipulated evidence to deceive the Justice regarding the opening of the Emílio Santiago Foundation and that, according to the process, he would have misled the Justice.
The complaint is being investigated and Hercília wants the stable union of Emílio and Marcio Tadeu to be annulled, since she believes the documents presented by him to be a fraud and also wants compensation, since Marcio would be living off the singer’s assets.
One of the witnesses appointed in the process that Hercília moves is Alcione. Some of the singer’s interviews were given as documentary evidence in which she claims that Emílio did not have a partner. It turns out that, in the stable union process presented by Marcio Tadeu after the singer’s death, Alcione signs and declares that she knew that he and the singer were partners.
Faced with the family imbroglio and the result of the negative DNA test, after two others gave results with a chance that Aleksander Nunes was Emílio’s son, the lawyer wants a review: “Let’s see if the Justice will comply or not”.
On the afternoon of Tuesday, the 31st, Maher issued a note about the negative result:
“In view of the paternity recognition process of the alleged son of Emílio Santiago, we inform you that the DNA result presented in the case file was NEGATIVE with 0% compatibility, however, in view of the recent facts conveyed in the Inventory process, this office will enter with an objection referring to the result of the last DNA test, since two DNA tests in which compatibility with genetic material with Emílio Santiago’s half-sister, resulted in 73%, were proven in the records of the paternity recognition process and with Emílio’s own genetic material resulted in a 12% compatibility”.
The body of singer Emílio Santiago, who died in 2013, was exhumed on October 27, at the request of Aleksander’s lawyer, who tried for years to prove Emílio’s paternity.

Waiting almost ten years
Aleksander had been waiting since 2013 for the Justice to grant him an authorization to take the DNA test. In 2019, the producer even tried to raise money through a virtual crowdfunding to pay the exam costs.
The goal was to raise the amount of R$ 15,000 to pay for the exhumation of Emílio’s body and to collect genetic material for a DNA test. That was the only way Aleksandre could prove the degree of kinship, since he was raised by his mother and stepfather without knowing if he was the artist’s son.
At the age of 26, when he found out that he could be Emílio Santiago’s son, Aleksander looked for the singer, but he was never legally recognized as a son, nor did they undergo DNA tests when the singer was alive.
At the time, Emílio’s supposed son vented about the difficulty he faced: “I’m lost. I’ve already filed for Justice, but the process is not moving. They should have already decreed the right to do this procedure. I want to end this uncertainty soon. . My children are suffering at school with all this history. The classmates are mocking and demanding if they are not Emílio Santiago’s grandchildren”.
Eighteen months after Emílio’s death, Aleksander took the first DNA test with the singer’s half-sister. The report indicated the result in 63% certainty of the degree of kinship between them. But only an exhumation of Emilio’s remains could prove it with a higher percentage.
Some time later, the producer did another test with genetic material from Santiago that would have been saved before his death, but the result showed only a 12% chance that the singer was his father.
