Eletrobras signs a proposal for the government – 05/29/2023 – Panel SA

The government is not talking to the executive board of Eletrobras, but the company’s command sent the signal to Planalto that it is willing to make changes in the company’s governance.

In the privatization, the Union, which today owns almost 40% of the shares, started to vote in relevant decisions of the company with 10% of its participation.

The restriction led the AGU to join the STF with an action of unconstitutionality. He asks that he may have a seat on the board for every 10% of the shares.

Interlocutors of people present at a meeting with government representatives say that the board of directors of Eletrobras now proposes that the government have two seats – they would be occupied by Marisete Pereira, former executive secretary of the Ministry of Mines and Energy, and Marcelo Siqueira, AG attorney.

Marisete is currently on the board, Siqueira is awaiting his release by the AGU to join the legal vice-presidency.

However, the government wants at least four seats and is unwilling to have both names on the council.

In Planalto’s evaluation, Marisete Pereira was one of the privatization mentors along with Wilson Ferreira Junior, today president of Eletrobras. Siqueira was a special advisor at the Ministry of Finance, which structured the project.
