Education stoppage in Amapá takes more than two thousand protesters to the front of the Palácio do Setentrião – News of Brazil

Scheduled to end this Friday, March 31, the strike of education professionals in the state led to 90% of schools in the sector suspending their classes and more than two thousand demonstrators occupying the front of the Palácio do Setentrião, seat of the Government of Amapá , only on this first day, Thursday (30).
The vice-president of the Union of Public Servants in Education in Amapá (Sinsepeap), professor Kelson Luiz Cardoso, informed that the two-day stoppage is a warning for the guarantee of rights in the education category. “We demand work improvements, professional valuation, update of salary losses and worker health, among other points”, clarified.
Kelson recalled that education professionals have agendas presented to Governor Clécio Luís, awaiting compliance, and that the negotiating table between the parties is open. “We have been talking to the secretary of education, Sandra Casimiro, with the secretary of administration, Paulo Lemos, and even with Governor Clécio himself. We remember that the three are teachers. The first moment was of dialogue, we debated the proposals that Sinsepeap presented and now we are waiting for the government’s counter-proposal”, narrated the teacher.
The state government’s counterproposal, according to an agreement in the negotiations, must be made by April 1, Saturday, which is the base date for education workers. In the midst of the demonstration, information emerged that this Friday Governor Clécio Luís already calls the category for negotiation in relation to the base date and other demands of the demonstrators.
Sinsepeap wants a readjustment of the teacher’s floor, recomposition of the losses of the last nine years, better working conditions, democratic management, retirement of education professionals, an end to moral harassment and workers’ health. “Unfortunately, the government team did not present any readjustment percentage or proposal to advance the agenda”, says a press release from the union.
“We cannot see our career thrown in the trash. It is unacceptable that an education professional continues to be devalued. We are the ones who contribute to the education of the children of workers in this state. Our struggle is for wages, but it is also to improve education throughout Amapá”, stressed Kátia Almeida, president of the Union that brings together education professionals from Amapá.
After the demonstration in front of the Septentrião Palace, this Friday, at 4 pm, the category will hold a general meeting with an agenda indicating a strike, if the government does not present a proposal, which would reach more than 13 thousand public servants of education in the state from Amapá.
