E-sports athletes from Amapá compete in Copa Reis do Norte in virtual games – News of Brazil

The main e-sports athletes from Amapá will compete, until Sunday (17), in the Copa Reis do Norte, a regional online gaming competition that serves as a qualifier for national tournaments in the first half of 2024. The event, held with the encouragement of State Government, which began this Wednesday (13), brings together competitors from seven states in the region who face each other for the podium in 11 types of virtual games. The disputes take place, starting at 1 pm, at Amapá Garden Shopping, in the South Zone of Macapá.
In total, 36 teams and 24 athletes from individual categories, from the states of Amapá, Acre, Amazonas, Pará, Rondônia, Roraima and Tocantins, face each other in online and offline games. The Cup, which will distribute R$25,000 in prizes, is held by the Amapaense Electronic Sports Federation (Feapee) in partnership with the State Secretariat for Culture (Secult) and with the state deputy, Kaká Barbosa.
Amapá has 11 teams, in team sports, and seven athletes, in individual sports, in the search for titles. The President of Feapee, Ícaro Maciel, highlights the importance of public policies aimed at the democratization of virtual games that integrate e-sports.
“We know that various electronic equipment has an extremely high value, and here, young people, regardless of social class, can have contact with consoles, computers, and become interested in virtual sports”, clarifies the president.
Feapee’s Marketing Director, Thamyres Sousa, discusses how the growth of the virtual environment has influenced the globalization process, especially among young people. “Electronic gaming is an area that stimulates sectors such as economy, leisure and programming. By regionalizing the championship, we can make different places have contact and become interested in the sector”, highlighted the director.

Competitors face each other in matches and elimination matches in games such as: Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CS:GO 2), Dota 2, League of Legends (LOL), League Of Legends: Wild Rift, Valorant and Rainbow Six.
Each type of PC Gamer has its own regulations, and throughout the day, there will be PC Gamer exhibitions, games, exhibition of digital drawings and prize draws.
The competitions take place until Sunday, the 17th, starting at 1 pm, with mobile modalities, such as Free Fire and LOL: Wild Rift, in addition to the general award ceremony.
Ian Soares, 22, is a competitor and tells how online games helped him become interested in team play. “For competitors, it is an opportunity to enter the professional electronics market. Before it was somewhat surreal, but with the necessary support, we can encourage strategy, team play and communication”says the young man.
