Dorinaldo charges Equatorial and Aneel in court against abuses committed on holidays and weekends – News of Brazil

This Wednesday (18), the federal deputy Dorinaldo Malafaia (PDT) announced that it has filed a class action lawsuit against the company Cea Equatorial and the National Electric Energy Agency, Aneel, in federal court.

The action aims to prevent possible irregularities, such as the exchange of energy meters without prior notice, expertise or justification on weekends and holidays. Notably, on this last holiday of Nossa Senhora de Aparecida, October 12th, a meter change carried out without the consent of the residence’s owners went viral on social media, proving several complaints received previously.

Furthermore, the action questions:

– Oscillations and constant power outages;

– Irregularities in the Occurrence and Inspection Term Procedure (TOI) – lack of notification and knowledge on the part of consumer account holders, in which they are surprised with a notification to pay a fine;

– Issuance of Charges for Unregistered Consumption (CNR) – lack of knowledge or information to account holders about recovery procedures outside the period allowed by ANEEL Resolution;

– Lack of inspection to check consumption – the vast majority of consumers are unaware of the amounts charged by the company, as many have had surprises in the amounts on their invoices, especially after changing consumption meter clocks;

-Reconnection of energy outside the deadline established by law;

-Shutdown of power supply in homes for the elderly, chronically ill and various people in vulnerable situations.

“These are points that the population has been questioning for some time. At the public hearing that I promoted in August, the representation of CEA Equatorial guaranteed that these issues did not arise. The popular video demonstrates the opposite, as does the list of thousands of contributors. Legal action has become inevitable”highlighted Malafaia.

Aneel

The National Electric Energy Agency, the body responsible for supervising distribution companies, such as CEA Equatorial, is involved in the action so that it fulfills its duty to monitor this series of complaints from the population.

“See, the regulatory agency has to monitor it. An organ cannot – and I’m not saying that this is what happens – be a blank sheet. Aneel has to go to Amapá and find out closely what the population is complaining about. Something has to be done”.

Energy Crisis Commission

Later this Wednesday morning (18), the Special Sub-Committee of the Chamber of Deputies that deals with the energy crisis in Amapá, chaired by Malafaia, met and approved its work plan, as well as a request for information for Procon-AP on the quantity and qualification of complaints from Amapá residents about the Equatorial CEA.

“We are acting in every possible instance. We will fight against any abuses throughout Amapá”concluded the deputy.
