‘Don’t give up, I’m going to the end’, Deltan asks supporters – 06/04/2023 – Politics

Federal deputy Deltan Dallagnol (Podemos-PR) asked his supporters this Sunday (4), in Curitiba, to “don’t give up” and said he will “fight until the end” after the decision of the TSE (Superior Electoral Court) that revoked his mandate.

The former coordinator of the Operation Lava Jato task force in Paraná participated in an act in the center of the city, in Boca Maldita, an area used to hosting rallies.

“I met people during Lava Jato who asked me not to give up. Now I’m going to ask you, don’t give up. Big demonstrations started with smaller demonstrations”, said Deltan. “I need to be frank. I won’t make it alone. I need you to make the transformation,” she said.

Deltan appealed to the STF (Federal Supreme Court) against the removal of his mandate on Thursday (1). But he still says he believes that the Board of Directors of the Federal Chamber may not endorse the decision of May 16 by the TSE.

The act with Deltan occupied just the first block of the sidewalk on Rua 15 de Novembro. Organizers even announced an overestimated audience of 10,000 demonstrators, and the PM no longer makes this type of estimate.

Although it was not empty like the one in São Paulo, the demonstration in the capital of Paraná was very far from the main events that are usually held in Boca Maldita —a Lula (PT) rally in the 2022 elections, for example, occupied close to four blocks.

This Sunday, in the sound truck, a large poster had the photo, the addresses of social networks and the telephone numbers of the offices of the federal deputies of the Board of Directors of the Chamber.

In his speech, Deltan rescued the performance in Lava Jato and criticized Lula. He said he didn’t want to live in a country where “the president nominates a friend to the STF and rolls out the red carpet for a dictator”. The audience also chanted “out, Zanin” and “out, Pacheco” throughout the act.

Deltan received support from local politicians and also from congressmen from other states. In the sound truck, beside him, were Senator Eduardo Girão (Novo-CE), President of Podemos, Federal Deputy Renata Abreu (SP), Federal Deputy Abilio Brunini (PL-MT) and Federal Deputy Gilson Marques ( Novo-SC).

“I’m not going to give up on our country. If they remove a head, three more will come in Paraná, three in other states. We’re going to fill the National Congress. So that, within democracy, we can transform what we dream of”, he said. he.

In reference to a recent speech by minister Gilmar Mendes about the “Republic of Curitiba”, Deltan also said that “Curitiba is not the germ of fascism”. “It is the germ of work, of the fight against corruption, of freedom, of the strategy of change”.

“We will not build the Brazil that we dream of if we bend to arbitrariness, abuse and corruption. If we fall into the wrong methods of revenge or the other opposite, the wrong methods of omission, we will seek the way middle way, the way of truth and justice,” he said.

Posters carried by the Novo party called for “balance between the Powers” and “an end to abuses by the Judiciary”. Party members also distributed pamphlets about a petition in favor of a CPI on “abuse of authority”.

In the act, there were also phrases in English in reference to Deltan’s impeachment: “Political persecution is not justice” and “344 thousand silenced voices”, registered the posters.

Gislaine Masoller, coordinator of the Vem Pra Rua movement in Curitiba, told Sheet that it is an act of “outraged voters”. “Deltan is a son of Paraná and was wronged with an unconstitutional impeachment. We had our votes hijacked”, she says.

“We want above all to make the population aware of the political persecution that is happening against politicians of a spectrum. It is not a mega demonstration. It was not the intention. It was a quick thing. It is a public act”, she said.

In Boca Maldita, members of the Podemos and Novo parties, as well as movements like Vem Pra Rua, take turns at the microphone, before Deltan arrives. “PT out” and “my flag will never be red” were among the repeated shouts. Afterwards, with Deltan already on top of the sound truck, the organizers pulled “together with Deltan” and “My vote is not garbage”. The act ended with the national anthem.

The MBL (Movimento Brasil Livre) from Paraná tried to participate in the act, but withdrew the day before. In a public note, the MBL stated that Deltan was impeached “in an act of discretion on the part of the TSE”, but that he withdrew from the June 4 act because he found himself “isolated in the publicity” of the demonstration.

According to the MBL, the demonstration was being “sabotaged by some wings of Bolsonarism”. “Even from Deltan himself, we have seen his effort to dissociate and distance himself from the MBL”, concludes the note.
