Doctor is wrong when she says that Covid vaccines cause heart attacks and sudden death in children – 11/30/2023 – Health

Data from the study by Observatório Infância, from Fiocruz, shows that it is false that children have very mild Covid-19, contrary to what a viral post on social media claims. According to the research, in 2020 and 2021, the disease caused the death of 539 children aged 6 months to 3 years old.

Regarding the occurrence of pericarditis and myocarditis as adverse post-vaccination effects, the content investigated by Comprova is confusing by not making it clear that these are occurrences considered very rare. Furthermore, a study published on the CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) website in the United States showed that the risk of cardiac complications, including myocarditis and pericarditis, was significantly higher after infection with the Sars-CoV-2 virus, that causes Covid-19, than after the application of the vaccine among people aged at least 5 years.

Given the low incidence of myocarditis and pericarditis as a post-vaccination adverse event, the latest technical note from the Ministry of Health on the subject, number 139/2022, reinforces the benefit of the vaccine compared to the risk of Covid-19 infection and development of severe forms of the disease.

Regarding other complications in children that, according to the person responsible for the recording, would be consequences of the vaccine —sudden death, heart attack, neurological problems and muscular catatonias—, there is no data in the vaccine safety monitoring bulletin from the Ministry of Health, which confirm the claim. The author also does not mention what could support the allegation. Regarding seizures as a possible adverse event, the information appears (page 12) with an incidence of less than 0.06% for every 100,000 doses of the Pfizer/Wyeth vaccine applied and 0.03% for every thousand doses of Janssen — but without necessarily have a causal relationship with the proven vaccine.

The person responsible for the video also states that the Pfizer pediatric vaccine leaflet does not indicate that the vaccine was tested on children under 5 years of age. But the document cites clinical studies in children from 6 months of age. In people aged 5 years or older, myocarditis and pericarditis are classified as “very rare” adverse events, occurring in less than 0.01% of patients who used the vaccine.

The report made contact with doctor Raissa Soares, author of the post, but there was no response until the publication of this verification. She has already had several statements identified as misinformation.
