A few days before taking office as minister of the STF (Supreme Federal Court), former Minister of Justice Flávio Dino (PSB) spoke from the Senate rostrum this Wednesday (7) and came out in defense of the court and his future colleague court Alexandre de Moraes.

For about 15 minutes, Dino said that he is concerned about “false solutions” such as the impeachment of Supreme Court ministers, and highlighted that it was Congress itself who decided that the STF has the power to judge parliamentarians.

“I sometimes find it strange that the Federal Supreme Court judges parliamentarians,” he said. “The National Congress that allowed the Supreme Court to prosecute and judge parliamentarians without the need for authorization from the respective House.”

Since leaving the Ministry of Justice and Public Security, Dino resumed his mandate in the Senate, presented bills and made his first speech this Tuesday (6). His inauguration at the Supreme Court is scheduled for February 22nd.

The president of the Senate, Rodrigo Pacheco (PSD-MG), even thanked Dino for his presence in the House. “I hope you’re enjoying the Senate, but not to the point of not going to the Supreme Court,” he said.
