Dino does not respond about possible impediment to judge Bolsonaro in the STF

The current Minister of Justice, Flávio Dino, who this Wednesday (13) is being questioned by the Constitution and Justice Committee (CCJ) of the Senate, avoided on two occasions answering questions from the leader of the opposition in the Senate, senator Rogério Marinho (PL -RN), regarding a possible declaration of Dino’s impediment in relation to trials involving former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL).

“I asked a question that remained unanswered, whether Your Excellency would feel prevented from judging your declared enemy, which is Jair Bolsonaro, as minister”, said Marinho when questioning Dino for the second time on the subject. Lula’s minister, who is an outspoken critic of Bolsonaro, has already referred to the former president as a “demon” and a “serial killer” and even said that he would be “more dangerous than drug dealers”.

Dino, however, chose to rescue a question from Senator Espiridião Amin (PP-SC) regarding the Ministry of Justice’s participation on January 8 and answer it instead of giving Marinho the necessary clarification.

If he is approved by the CCJ and the Senate plenary and takes office as minister of the STF, Dino will inherit 344 shares that were under the analysis of minister Rosa Weber, who retired at the end of September.

According to information from the STF, the processes relate to thorny issues involving former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL), the criminalization of abortion, the management of the Covid-19 pandemic, among others.

Among those relating to the former president, there are three that should provoke discussions and long votes, such as the measures taken by him during the Covid-19 pandemic, the Christmas pardon for people convicted of crimes punishable by up to five years in prison and alleged harassment. against journalists.

Only in the action involving Bolsonaro and the management of the pandemic, which has been running since 2021 and is derived from Covid’s CPI, are the former president, his sons Flávio and Eduardo Bolsonaro, deputies Carlos Jordy (PL-RJ), Bia Kicis ( PL-DF) and Carla Zambelli (PL-SP), former ministers Onyx Lorenzoni and Osmar Terra, among others.

The process investigates whether Bolsonaro and other public agents incited the population to adopt inappropriate behavior to combat the pandemic. According to the CPI report, they had incited the population to commit the crime of violating preventive health measures, with the dissemination of misinformation about the use of measures such as the use of masks, lockdown and social isolation, the effectiveness of the vaccine and the defense of early treatment and herd immunity due to virus contamination.
