Digital popularity: Tarcísio leads and Leite plummets – 06/15/2023 – Politics

The governor of São Paulo, Tarcísio de Freitas (Republicans), remains at the top of digital popularity among the heads of state executives across the country, and Eduardo Leite (PSDB), from Rio Grande do Sul, loses even more visibility, exposing difficulties in presenting himself as an alternative to Bolsonarism.

This is what the DPI (Digital Popularity Index) shows, which varies from 0 to 100 and is analyzed daily by the research and consulting company Quaest. It is calculated using an algorithm that collects and processes 152 variables from Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, Wikipedia and Google platforms.

The governor of Pernambuco, Raquel Lyra (PSDB), managed to remain in second place after oscillations in digital visibility, with a score of 46.63, ahead of Romeu Zema (Novo), head of the Minas Gerais Executive, who arrives in June with 41 .87 virtual performance points.

Leite, on the other hand, left the fourth position in January, to the ninth in June, losing about 16 points of visibility on social platforms – from 39.56 points to 23.49.

The best placed show a trend of national projection.

Among the most evident representatives digitally, Ronaldo Caiado (União Brasil), from Goiás, stood out, who went from 13th place in January, with 21.77 points, to 36.65 in the final score in June, reaching fourth position.

He participated, at the end of May, in a session of the MST’s CPI, which reverberated with an argument between parliamentarians from President Lula’s base (PT) and the opposition.

Tarcísio, an ally of former President Jair Bolsonaro (PL), but who adopts a pragmatic stance towards the current federal representative, maintained his performance on the networks and achieved stability in digital popularity —in June, he obtained 76.61 points in the IPD.

In six months of management, he dialogued with the PT, distanced himself from radicalism despite punctual signals to the most aggressive Bolsonarists, sanctioned legislation allowing the distribution of medical cannabis by the SUS in the state and opened contact with union centrals.

It is he who the Bolsonarist right envisions as a possible candidate for the Planalto in 2026, in a scenario of Bolsonaro’s ineligibility. In an interview with GloboNews, the president of the PL, Valdemar Costa Neto, said that the current governor should “leave with 22” if he wants to have a viable candidacy for the Presidency.

Leite, now president of the PSDB, seeks to reunify his party, especially the São Paulo directory, linked to former governor João Doria (former PSDB). The acronym has been losing ground since 2018, and had its biggest defeat in 2022, leaving Palácio dos Bandeirantes after 28 years.

With the imbroglio in the caption, the governor of Rio Grande do Sul finds it difficult to consolidate a non-Bolsonarist opposition to Lula, and more, to project himself personally as a good alternative for the next presidential election.

Another state representative who lost relevance in the networks was Ibaneis Rocha (MDB), from the Federal District. After a fifth place in January, with his removal from office after the coup attacks on January 8, the governor of the federal capital is in 13th place, with 20.96 points.

The digital popularity of Helder Barbalho (MDB), governor of Pará, also registered a drop – in April, he was in fifth place, he jumped to fourth in May, but in June he registers seventh place in the ranking, with 25.68 points.

Raquel Lyra continues to reap the rewards of a strategy that encompasses a good relationship and conversations between the PT and the PL, and Zema sees her digital popularity drop in June, after having said that the states of the South and Southeast are different because they have a greater proportion of people working than living with assistance, such as Bolsa Família.

The statement was seen as prejudiced against other areas of the country, and had repercussions on social media, echoed by manifestations by PT parliamentarians.

For the final grade, five dimensions are considered, such as fame (number of followers), engagement (comments and likes per post), mobilization (shares), valence (proportion of positive and negative reactions) and interest (search volume).

Each dimension is weighted by a model assimilated by the machine based on the real results of past elections, with thousands of candidacies monitored by the company.
