It’s okay to stay home for New Year’s. To organize your rest, meals of almost ready-to-eat foods help to overcome the challenge of finding open restaurants, while light meals give your brain a breather.

See below a homemade itinerary for the holiday.

SERIES

Abbott Elementary
In the line of mock documentaries, the second season of the comedy premiered in 2023, with a mostly black cast. The series follows a school in Philadelphia that has budget problems and is fighting a privatization process. The interactions between students and teachers in literacy are funny.
Available on Star+, 12 years.

Speaking for real
From the same creators as “Ted Lasso”, it was one of the highlights of Apple TV in 2023. Jimmy (Jason Segel), a psychologist who suffers from the recent loss of his wife, faces challenges in his relationship with his teenage daughter and with his own patients. But the highlights are the interactions between Jimmy and Paul, played by Harrison Ford, a grumpy therapist with Parkinson’s. It warms the heart and has a good soundtrack.
Available on Apple TV+, 14 years old.

Jury Duty
In the reality show, all participants are actors, except Ronald Gladden, a project manager who believes he is taking part in a documentary about a jury trial. In the Emmy-nominated production for best comedy series, the highlights are Gladden’s genuine reactions, who surprises by being empathetic towards his peculiar companions.
Available on Prime Vídeo, 14 years old.

What We Do in The Shadows
It’s like “The Office” but follows four centuries-old vampires adapting to the modern world. The series launched its fifth season in December. In the current plot, Guillermo (Harvey Guillén) tries to hide from his masters that he is no longer human. With a trip to space and a talent show, the new episodes summarize what the series has to offer: nonsense humor with charismatic characters.
Available on Star+, 16 years old
