The Public Ministry of Minas Gerais opened, this Wednesday (19), investigation into the occurrence of scams involving Desenrola Brasil. The investigation is conducted by Gaeciber (Special Action Group to Combat Cyber Crimes).

In a note sent to Sheet, the MPMG stated that at least six fraudulent sites were identified. The portals use the program’s name and logo to imitate an official channel and deceive victims. The agency said it was working to remove them from the air “as soon as possible”.

In one of the alleged frauds detected, the scammers asked the victim to pay a fee to settle the debt.

Other cases involved the theft of personal data, such as CPF, bank information and social network account data. The spread of viruses on computers, tablets and smartphones has also been identified. In this case, malicious software is used to infect the victims’ device and carry out other types of scams, according to the MPMG.

Desenrola was launched by the federal government on Monday (17). A Sheet showed, in a report published the day after the program premiered, that scammers were already using Facebook and WhatsApp to promote fraudulent sites that passed as official channels.

The MPMG Group to Combat Cyber Crimes directs those interested in joining Desenrola to search for government websites, identified by the gov.br domain and official channels of the banking or credit institution with which they have debts.

Febraban releases tips to avoid falling into Desenrola Brasil scams

This week, Febraban (Brazilian Federation of Banks) released tips so that account holders do not fall into scams that use the name of Desenrola.

The entity recommends that customers do not click on links received by emails, messaging applications such as WhatsApp or Telegram and on ads served on social networks or sponsored sites that appear when searching for Desenrola on Google.

According to the federation, it is important that citizens carefully check the website address, as scammers use links similar to the official ones. Another point of attention is the spelling and layout of the email or website, if there are errors in Portuguese, excessive use of capital letters or special characters.

Febraban points out that it does not send notices for renegotiation of debts in Desenrola. Any message such as the entity’s logo must be discarded.

How to participate in Desenrola Brasil

Those interested in participating in Desenrola Brasil need to contact their banks by December 30 of this year.
