State deputy Thiago Abrahim (União Brasil) presented Bill No. 42/2024, which provides for the creation of the State Fund for Rural Development of Family Agriculture in Amazonas. The matter was filed with the Legislative Assembly of Amazonas (Aleam), on 2/6.

“The Fund aims to strengthen family farming through financial support in the sector, whether through loans or financing. It is important that we seek these alternatives so that farmers can work with dignity. The Bill also promotes the implementation of complementary land actions, such as sustainable rural development”, explained Abrahim.

The matter aims to contribute to accelerating and rationalizing actions within the scope of agriculture, land ownership, livestock farming, aquaculture and fishing, agroindustry and other non-agricultural rural activities.

“We need to invest in family farming based on agroecology, creative coexistence and a supportive socioeconomic economy. We need to count on the help of technological innovation, incentives to hold fairs, exhibitions, etc. We need to generate jobs and income”, highlighted the author of the proposal.

The União Brasil deputy proposes, in addition to granting loans and financing, other alternatives for financial assistance to family farming.

Provision of guarantees, subsidies for financial charges, water and energy tariffs, land regularization, obtaining rural properties, acquisition and use of machinery and equipment for sustainable agricultural practices, exchange of agroecological development experience, provision of technical assistance and rural extension are some of the proposed alternatives.

According to the Bill, the State Fund’s revenues may consist of credit in the State budget and additional donations and contributions from international, governmental and private entities. In addition to credit operations that are constituted for the benefit, with the State of Amazonas as the borrower, return of loan applications, financing, leases, among others.
